Maribel LaFontaine
Attorney at Law
The principal attorney is Maribel LaFontaine, who established the Firm in
2001. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and obtained a Bachelor of Arts
degree from Fordham University in New York. She later moved to the
Washington, DC area and attended The Columbus School of Law of The Catholic
University of America in Washington, DC., where she obtained a Juris Doctor
in law. She is admitted to practice law in the Maryland and DC Bars, but is
authorized to practice U.S. Immigration and Nationality Law anywhere in the
United States or U.S. Consulates abroad. Ms. LaFontaine is a member of the
American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Maryland Bar
Association and the Montgomery County Bar Associations.
Ms. LaFontaine obtained substantive immigration law experience prior to going into private practice. Ms. LaFontaine began working for an immigration nonprofit organization in Washington, DC shortly after graduation from law school. In 1996, she went to work for an immigration law firm which primarily worked in the area of business and family immigration. In 1999, she began working as a Supervising Attorney for an immigration firm. Her primary area of practice there was immigration litigation before the Executive Office of Immigration Review and the preparation of all forms of applications for relief from deportation. After successfully working for other immigration law firms in the Washington, DC area, Ms. LaFontaine decided to bring her immigration law experience and well regarded people management skills directly to clients.
Her diverse immigration experience has afforded her the opportunity to assist many foreign nationals with diverse immigration problems and matters. Whether it is an asylum seeker, an employer seeking to sponsor a professional for a work visa or a foreign national who committed a crime and is now the subject of removal proceedings, Ms. LaFontaine’s hopes to use her immigration experience and advocacy skills to assist foreign nationals and their families in their quest sto obtain legal immigration status in order to temporarily or permanently reside in the United States.
