estate planning practice

It is becoming increasingly common for couples and individuals to actively plan the disposal, distribution and/or transfer of their estates, rather than allow the state to determine issues about their lives and property after death or in the event of disability.  Estate planning is the process of gathering information about the individual's wishes and assets, and the creation of legal documentation to ensure those wishes are executed.

Through proper estate planning, the client can reduce tax liability, ensure adequate cash availablilty, provide certainty and stability for surviving family members, and ensure that assets are distributed according to the client's wishes.

Depending on the individual needs of the client, the client may wish to execute a will, power of attorney and advance health care directive (living will).  It is also common for clients to have one or more trusts to take advantage of tax planning options, provide privacy and avoid probate.

The Firm also assists clients in estate and trust administration.  Estate administration is the court process by which assets are distributed under a will deemed valid through probate or the state's laws for deceased individuals who did not have a will or a will deeemed valid after probate. Trust administration is the process of advising clients on making transfers or distributions of property into or out of a trust.
